Who We Are
History
SunChase was founded in the 1980’s with early activities concentrated on opportunistic equity and real estate investments. Following the savings and loan crisis in the early 1990’s, under the direction of William Pope, the company utilized its real estate expertise to become active in the acquisition and sale of distressed assets, including real estate land and loan assets acquired from the Resolution Trust Corporation (“RTC”, now the FDIC). SunChase purchased and managed RTC assets with a book value of approximately $2.0 billion dollars. During this period, SunChase made venture and other equity investments in companies within industries such as software, aircraft and fiber-optic cable.
In the 1990’s, SunChase became active in residential and commercial development, which included fostering large parcels of raw land through the entitlement and development process to become successful mixed-use, master planned communities. SunChase also actively managed and sold significant real estate holdings that it either owned or managed in partnership with others.
Prior to 2006, reflecting favorable real estate values and the success of its developments, SunChase entered into agreements to sell the majority of its single-family residential real estate holdings. The company continues to manage significant commercial and residential real estate holdings which are company-owned or owned along with investors.
